An Introduction to The Beastly Picnic

Since our inception on WUOG, “Beasts From the East” has been followed up at 2pm by another show–known as The Players Picnic. It’s hosted by DJ Waterbed, and runs for 2 hours. The musical focus is funk, R&B, soul and all of the rich, syrupy baby-making, hotstepping things in between. Like us, the ”P Double” has received ”Best Specialty Show” honors here at the station. On occasion, DJ S.O.S. will get to host when Waterbed is out.
As a result, you will occasionally hear him talk about a block called The Beastly Picnic, which is a tie-in of “Beasts From the East” and “Players Picnic”.
Waterbed is hard at work on the Picnic page, so we here at Beasts Central will present links for the joint shows when we can. As always, we hope you’ll enjoy what we have to offer.
Take your seat, click HERE and see who’s jammin’ today. There’s a few legends you may know of (James Brown for starters), but even more melodic “players” and “playettes” who you don’t know (24 Carat Black, Syl Johnson). Sit back, relax, and go the place in your mind where the good times go to see their good times. Just roll with the Picnic….
From The Streets to the Stage and Right Back to the Streets, We Bring You This July 10th Edition of The Players Picnic. Or, from another perspective, it’s the second half of the 7/10 edition of The Beastly Picnic.
