As vowed the previous week, we came back with a major vengeance, a proverbial chip on the shoulder if you will, this week with a major overhaul of new music from Idle Warship, Bobby Creekwater, Statik Selektah (for my fellow Wuoggers up in NYC at this year’s CMJ), Trav Williams, Nobody Famous, and then some. Plus, a fresh installment of the Halftime Hip Hop Mixtape featuring Big Jacks & DJ Eleven, as well as another new installment of Diamonds in the Rough. And of course, Mayer Hawthorne pushing one step closer to Hall of Fame status on this week’s Starting Line Up Countdown. So, what are you waiting for? PRESS PLAY!! Haha.

UPDATE: Next Friday (Oct. 30th) is designated as a Furlough Day meaning UGA will be furloughed (all major buildings will be shut down including ours) therefore our second installment of the Graffiti Sessions (Feminenergy, Ladies First) has been pushed to November. More info in the coming days. Also, the HHHS is now officially on Facebook. If you’re a fan of the HHHS, then let it be known!!

Last week was the opportunity to let the people come through and seize our airwaves, and they definitely showed up in a major way for a good cause. This weekend is of course Alumni Weekend where the people of WUOGs past come through and bring that bit of WUOG-stalgia however, unexpectedly, no alumni came through during the HHHS, so WUOG’s “Urban Music Institution” came back a week early. This week delivered a little bit of nostalgia of its own with a mini old school block, a nice set of smoothed out soul with a hip hop twist to it, and plus some new music coming from ATL’s own Valedictorian Music Group held down by 21. Also, some new entries made it to The Starting Line Up Countdown, but was it enough to prevent Ann Arbor, MI’s soulful son, Mayer Hawthorne from claiming the #1 spot again? Major shout-outs to all the alumni that are in the Classic City this weekend, and we shall be back at it in a major way next Friday! In the meantime, have a beautimous weekend!!

No Games: The Magic Never Dies

Apparently, this week there was a major chip on the shoulder and having something to prove because there was nothing but pure, unadulterated, hotness coming to the airwaves with an extended edition of Diamonds in the Rough, Part 2 of the Halftime Hip Hop Mixtape, and featuring artists that performed at the A3C Festival this weekend. DJ S.O.S. and F.F. both held things down but it only made the show a 7-alarm blaze plus a shake-up in this week’s “Starting Line Up Countdown.” Enough motivation to hit play yet? I thought so. Haha. Enjoy the music and we’ll be back at it next Friday.

Program Note: Next Week is Seize the Airwaves, where people in the community can come through and spin whatever they want for a good cause. So, keep it locked to the blog as well as MySpace, to know whether or not the HHHS will go down this coming week. Also, OhZone will officially launch on Oct. 7th.  Head to www.ohzone.org for more info.

And R.I.P. to the Late Great Mr. Magic. To those that don’t know, he along with DJ Marley Marl was the first to have an actual hip hop radio show on a major radio station with The Rap Attack. Without them, a lot of us won’t be doing what we’re doing now. You will be missed Mr. Magic, but your “Magic” will never die. Rest in Love!!
