The Graffiti Sessions Vol. 5: nWo The Second Coming

After spending last weekend in Seizers’ Palace (shout-outs to all the Seizers that participated to raise over $500 YOU ROCK!!), a new “Nu World Order” (if that makes sense) came together this week to bring you the fifth installment of our “Graffiti Sessions” live music series and the 1st Session of the new year (and decade). This time around, P.O. “The Priceless One” came through the halls of the institution spitting rhymes all about that M.O.N.E.Y., recent “Seizer” and Chi-Town native, Mic Audio, came through to give the masses a dose out of that flava coming straight from that SouthSide, and we got an Loud Fast Rules-esque example of what could happen with “The Result of Lust.” Also, we had the distinct pleasure of having a special bonus live performance from the “Swagga Black Country Queen” Richelle L. Brown, and the honor of interviewing the legendary Freedom Williams (of C+C and the Music Factory).  Lastly, CNN’s iReport features a timelapse of all the festivities from beginning to end in under a minute with more photos and video footage (via Joshua Williams Photography and Dark Knight Entertainment respectively) will be made available soon (Become a Fan of the HHHS on Facebook & MySpace). But in the meantime, just hit play (and apologies to the online listeners that missed the last parts of the show due to the server being down) and enjoy the rest of the weekend.  We’ll be back on it with an overhaul of premieres and more to kick off Spring Break 2010 the proper way!!

And we’re not talking about poker chips and slot machines. Every semester the WU breaks away from our regularly scheduled and diverse programming to give the community the opportunity to come through to play whatever they llliiiiiikkkkeee all for a good cause and this semester was no different. Seize the Airwaves 2010 is the name of the game and this time around all proceeds went to the Interfaith Hospitality Network (http://www.familypromise.org). The HHHS had the distinct pleasure of having three different elements coming through to seize our airwaves kicking things off with Deranta Avaloy & Mic Audio of Dark Knight Entertainment for hour #1, followed by a “Late Night Thrill Ride” by the Wisconsin-grown duo of Bill & Phil, and rounding out the trifecta, an aural hodgepodge cooked, simmered, and served to you by Mr. Michael Leneski. On the behalf of everyone here at the WU, we definitely like to thank all the Seizers for participating in our bi-annual event and making it a success. We’re always eternally grateful for you and allowing us to keep doing what we doing for you. And special thanks to Deranta, Mic Audio, Sam, and Michael, for bringing on your versatile tastes to give the masses something fresh, which we always aim to do every week!!! Instead of the usual one long stream, it was decided to separate the show into three segments, giving each Seizer the proper exposure. We’ll be back to the normal WUOG-goodness next week, but the second coming of the “Nu World Order” will be invading the HHHS next Friday featuring P.O. The Priceless One, Mic Audio, The Result of Lust, Hawkeye Pierce, a special interview from Freedom Williams, and a special guest appearance from the “Swagga Black Country Queen” Richelle L. Brown.

A Teenage Love Affair

Feb 12 2010 11:51 pm

After talking about how much Washington D.C. a.k.a. Chocolate City was getting a major dose of White Chocolate (snow), the Classic City was treated to a small dosage of the powdery goodness late in the afternoon into the night. Though UGA and basically the city was shut down, we here at WUOG and the HHHS kept things running all the way through including giving the listeners extended live on location coverage of the wintry weather and as promised a spectrum of love to anti-love for a little something entitled “A Teenage Love Affair.” In addition to the jams that got you in a (Anti)V-Day mood, this week’s show featured a new installment of Diamonds in the Rough and the “Swagga Black Country Queen” Richelle L. Brown looking for the #1 spot for the 2nd week in a row. So lay back, cuddle up with a warm blanket and some comfort food with a special someone or by yourself and enjoy. Lastly, from everyone here at the WU, we want to wish everyone a safe V-Day Weekend (even if you don’t celebrate or have anyone, love yourself more than anything else) One Love, One Heart!!

BONUS: Here’s a special V-Day edition of the Community DJ Shift continuing with the “Teenage Love Affair” theme then going into a straight clubtastic party vibe and ending things off with a tribute track for all the listeners and supporters of the WU and the HHHS. Love you all!!

It’s All About that White Chocolate!!

While the northeastern part of the world, particularly Washington D.C. (a.k.a. Chocolate City), was treated to a winter wonderland, the South has had the distinct (un)pleasure of more rainy weather for the umpteenth time this season. I know one thing though, the word “drought” better not come out of anyone’s mouth when it is all said and done, but I digress. Hahaha. This week featured a new installment of Diamonds in the Rough, a fresh Starting Line Up Countdown with a guaranteed new #1, a sneak peak of some “Carnival” themed tracks in anticipation for next week’s WUOG V-Day Dance at GO Bar. Speaking of V-Day, next week, it will be a Teenage Love Affair of sorts as well go across the spectrum of love, anti-love, and everything in between on a special V-Day edition of the HHHS. What all will go down? Have to tune in next week and see, but in the meantime, enjoy the music, and we shall see you right back here next Friday!! One Love!!!
