Loud Fast Rules

Following up from last week’s show where I closed the set with a few doom metal songs, I decided to do an entire show focusing on the somewhat wide spectrum of music that’s considered doom metal. It’s got everything from traditional, Black Sabbath-y doom to some Southern sludge, post-metal and even a little bit of drone doom. The playlist closes out with several tracks from the Melvins’ Lysol album, it’s definitely the droniest thing the band has released (aside from their collaborations with dark ambient artist Lustmord) and was released right before they signed to a major label and released Houdini. I’m playing a little bit of catch up with my blog, sorry this wasn’t posted earlier. This is the first Loud Fast Rules of the new semester. The playlist starts off with a track off of the Bathory record Blood Fire Death, which is widely considered the first viking metal album. There’s some more traditional black metal, with a few experimental tracks thrown in for good measure. The show ends with some thrashier tracks interspersed with some doom/stoner metal.
